Hi!
I hope your July is going well so far.
If you are reading for the first time, a special welcome!
Radiant Business School July 2020 started this week and I’m really enjoying it so far.
There are 53 people signed up altogether. Around half of them are new, and the other half are people who have taken part previously.
It was a complete redesign, which has taken a lot of early mornings to put together, so I’ve been really pleased to have some positive feedback, and especially these words from previous participants.
“Wow, I can’t believe all the resources you have created for this course.”
“Just catching up with all emails/ materials ready to start/re-visit YRB course 2020 and I must say it looks pretty awesome!”
I’ve been especially proud to read quite a few messages like this one:
“It made me realise just how much I have put into practice in my business already since attending the previous course.”
Encouraging new clients with word of mouth + Google
We all know the traditional method of practice-building is ‘word of mouth’.
On the webinar this week I asked everyone where their new clients come from, and they all said ‘word of mouth’.
I also have new clients through ‘word of mouth’ but I also have new clients discover me through Google.
I currently have 50/50.
50% word of mouth and 50% through Google.
For example, this week I spoke to three prospective clients. One was from word of mouth and the other two from Google.
As a result of these three discovery calls, two have booked in.
One was from word of mouth and the other from Google.
The third is still thinking about it and is going to get back to me.
Maybe she will and maybe she won’t, and that’s ok.
Related to this, I’m often asked,
‘What’s the point of writing blog posts?’
Surely there are easier ways of marketing?
My answer to that question is simple.
Small things add up.
Blog posts are small pieces of content that demonstrate that you have some knowledge or expertise in a particular area and so they build trust.
I have a back-catalogue of blog posts and I try to write a new blog once a month.
I always feature them in my newsletters which go out to clients and friends on my list.
This might prompt them to book in, or they might forward it to someone else.
For example, my thinking last week went something like this:
Post-viral fatigue is affecting lots of people.
I want my clients to know this is something I can help with.
I write a short blog post explaining what I understand about the underlying causes of post-viral fatigue.
I share it in my newsletter.
Because I follow this process and repeat it often, I am able to see patterns.
This is what I see.
I build on word of mouth through my newsletter.
By updating my website with a blog post on a topic that is ‘trending’ I encourage new clients who are searching on Google.
What was interesting to me was that two of the three people I spoke to this week were concerned about post-viral or chronic fatigue.
I like helping people with fatigue, so I’m looking forward to working with them.
This week’s links
I love working with young women who want to stop taking the pill. This beautifully written article on The Good Trade mentions homeopathy and it made me feel so happy to see that word on a far-reaching blog like this one! I went on birth control as a teenager and this is what I learned since
I love a personality test. This reminds me of the Four Tendencies which I wrote about the last few weeks. The nine Enneagram types in the LA Times.
Leo Baubata’s blog Zen Habits was the first blog I ever followed. I always read his posts, and how his writing lets me into his life. Essential Meaningful Productivity
Austin Kleon was the first newsletter I ever signed up for and he still publishes every week. I love his thoughts on Doing the work that’s in front of you
This week’s just trust me.
Thanks so much for reading!

Have a great week!

For the curious
I’m not always that great at explaining what I offer through Your Radiant Business, and I’ve had a few queries this week, so I’ll say a few things here which I hope will help.
The YRB website is being re-designed which is why it’s not easy to get the answers to your questions. I’m sorry, but these things take time. I’m hoping for it to be ready by the end of this month.
Who are you? I’m a homeopath with a background in teaching and mentoring. My first and second degrees were both in education and my first career was in primary teaching. In the last few years I was an assistant headteacher with responsibility for mentoring newly qualified teachers.
What is Your Radiant Business? I set up Your Radiant Business initially as a blog with my friend Lulu Kitololo who is a graphic designer. She and I were both interested in how to develop branding and marketing for therapists. We are still friends, but she is no longer involved as she moved back to Nairobi and has her own business there.
What is Radiant Business School? It’s a course I designed over four years ago. My goal was to offer guidance for homeopaths who want to get started/be busier/modernise their practice. RB School covers boundaries, money, basic SEO, and how to find more ideal clients. In the last four years, more than 100 homeopaths have completed the course in its varying forms. I have rewritten it entirely this year and the current group is trialing the new format. I always ask for feedback and it evolves in response to that. Radiant Business School will run once more in 2020, starting on September 28th. Doors open in August, and there’s an early bird, with a free mentoring session for the first 10 people who join. I will set up a webinar for you to find out more in the next few weeks.
Do you have a membership? What’s that about? Meaningful Marketing is a one-year membership with an online community (not Facebook) and it has courses on writing, photography, newsletters, and blogging. It is a very lovely space with a group of warm and supportive homeopaths. We have regular webinars together, which feels like an on-going conversation as we have all got to know each other. It opened for the first time in 2020 and there will be another one in 2021. Places will be limited and the pre-requisite is that you have completed Radiant Business School. This means that if you think you may be interested in joining the membership for 2021, you will need to have completed the Radiant Business School by November when the doors open. I will set up a webinar to find out more in the next few weeks.
I’ve heard you do homeopathy webinars? Yes, I do, on topics that I feel I have some knowledge worth sharing. Here are the links. You can pay and watch, and email me for the notes. Hayfever, Acne, Chronic Fatigue, Women’s Sexual Health, Miasms and Nosodes.
What is mentoring? Mentoring is one-to-one support for you and your homeopathy business. For new people, I ask for a commitment to a minimum of three monthly sessions. At the moment, I don’t have any spaces, but I keep a note of anyone who is interested and get in touch when space opens up.
Why do you write so many newsletters? I love to write and I also believe that I can reach people best in this way. I am willing to share things I’m learning in my practice, in the hope that others can benefit.
What is the paid option? There is a £7 per month paid option for people who want to support my work, and I offer a monthly ‘ask me anything webinar’ for paid subscribers. I currently have four paid subscribers and this month I received questions about preparing for a photoshoot, among other things. I’m happy to talk about anything!
Fabulous newsletter Tracy, thank you!
