Hello and happy Monday!
What are you looking forward to this week?
We are in the darkest quarter of the year, and in the midst of our second lockdown.
I don’t know about you but on the brighter days, I feel quite upbeat and optimistic.
On grey days I find my energy dips and it’s hard to get anything done.
What do you do to stay motivated in your practice at this time of year?
Please reply in the comments – I promise to read and reply!
Practice Reflections
Staying motivated
As homeopaths we work on our own and it’s not always easy to stay motivated.
Having clients booked in, casework to do, and remedies to prepare is not all we do.
We also have to respond to email enquiries, do marketing activities (if we choose), and book-keeping, at the very least.
During these darker days, it’s easy to just do the minimum.
At this time of year, and certainly pretty much always towards the end of the month, things can feel a little quiet.
In the membership, we were talking about this recently.
It made me think about what I do to help myself stay motivated.
Here are the things I find helpful.
Gratitude
I write three things I’m grateful for every day – I do this in my journal and also on my favourite app ShineLight
I make sure I get as much light as I can – sit near a window, go outside at lunchtime, and also have tea-lights burning to brighten up gloomy daysSounds
These help me focus – I listen to Noisli through my headphones when I need to focus on writing, and I listen to music when I’m preparing packages to postPlants
I love my houseplants and I make sure I water them weekly and mist them regularly. I find them comforting and uplifting in my workspace.Timer
I use a Pomodoro timer app to help me focus on my tasks and tick them off as I go. Knowing a timer will go off in 40 minutes is incredibly helpful.Planner
I take the time to plan my main tasks every month. I fill out the Radiant Business Planner and put it somewhere I can see it. I tick off the days and the tasks as I complete them. This helps me feel accountable.Bullet Journal
I create a page with my plan for each month, week and each workday. I do this in advance, tick things off as I go, capture thoughts and regularly review how things went. ‘Notes to self’ are a good way to keep myself moving forward.
