I find it hard to believe we are almost in November and the last couple of months of 2022.
This year has been a strange one, to say the least, and itās not been easy for any of us to maintain buoyancy and optimism in light of all everything thatās been happening. āØ
For myself, I try to stay present in the here and now, and to focus on what is inside my personal control when thereās so much that isnāt.
I have a list of things to finish by the end of November that is going to keep me busy.
One of them is planning dates and topics for webinars in 2023, including the new graduatesā course. š
Thank you to everyone who joined me on Skills, Checklists and Strategies for a Thriving Practice.
I love your presentations, very clear and inspiring, and you are very generous with your course notes, templates etc, and most of all your warm presence. Thank you : )
Thereās still a chance to watch the replay here. š”
My next webinar is on Homeopathy for Gut Health, and you can find more details below.
Simple tips for SEO š
When I first graduated 15 years ago, hardly any homeopaths had a website, but nowadays itās widely accepted that a website is a necessary part of setting yourself up in practice.
Iām often asked for tips on how to attract patients, and my answer is always the same: focus on SEO for your website and write blog articles.
However, a website only works to bring enquiries if it is attractive, up-to-date, and most importantly ā findable.
Findable = shows up on a Google search
e.g. homeopath in Worcester, homeopath for fertility etc.
This is the core principle of SEO.
SEO means Search Engine Optimisation.
The word Optimised somehow suggests that there are ātricksā to this, but actually there are simply a few principles to understand.
SEO principles
Google has one primary goal - to show searchers the best results in response to their web search questions.
If you are a ālocal businessā your website needs to address two key issues in order for Google to rank you a) what you do and b) where you do it.
If you are an āinternational businessā your website needs to address one key issue in order for Google to rank you a) expertise.
Simple tips
Include the word homeopathy in your website URL - this immediately helps Google to immediately know what you do. e.g. homeopathywithtracy.co.uk Itās not recommended to use vague terms such as wellness, health, vitality etc.
Your site structure needs to be simple and logical - About, Fees, Bookings, and FAQs are the bare minimum. You must include your name and business address.
Avoid large blocks of writing and avoid jargon. Read it out loud to see if it sounds natural. If it sounds too āwordyā you need to simply.
Avoid huge slow-loading images. This can be common in websites that havenāt been designed professionally. Google simply doesnāt show people slow-loading websites and even has its own handy website speed checker.
Check your website loads properly on mobile. If your website is not mobile-friendly, Google will not rank you. Again, it has its own mobile-friendly checker.
Set up your Google Business page, which means complete it fully, include images and get your first reviews. The more images and reviews you have, the more Google will rank you. Google will email you occasionally asking you to check if itās up to date. Itās really worth doing this from time to time.
Write useful content, and share it with your audience - i.e. through your newsletter. This means that your website gets regular views. When your website has regular visitors, the more likely Google will rank you.
Get reputable backlinks. A backlink is when your website is listed elsewhere, linking directly back to you. Getting your website listed on Findahomeopath, or on a therapy listings directory are both good ways to get started. This shows Google you are bonafide.
Write content for a long-standing homeopathy website such as Clever H the Mag is a great way to get a strong backlink. You can also link to the article itself directly from your site, which adds to your credibility. Contact Uta the editor directly if you have an idea for an article that you can share.
I am planning webinars for 2023 on topics such as websites, SEO and newsletters.
In the meantime, here is a free webinar on websites and branding where Iām in conversation with my web designer Adam. Watch the replay here. āØ

Webinar overview
In recent years, the gut has become an increasing area of interest.
It is now understood that the microbiome is connected to the vagus nerve, and together they affect both physical and mental well-being.
Many, if not most, people will experience gut health issues at some point in their life, commonly including acid reflux, bloating and 'IBS'.
Perhaps, like me, your practice brings you people who present with gut health issues as their main area of concern.
In other cases, gut health issues will be uncovered during the initial consultation ā this is not surprising as 'pharmaceutical medications' commonly give rise to long-term side effects and chronic gut health issues.
