Hi, how are you?
I can’t believe we are in November!
This week we shift into the last two months of the year.
The days are shorter and while the light can be beautiful, the sun stays low in the sky.
Take care of yourself at this time, even more than you usually do.
Hold onto your boundaries.
Make sure you get plenty of sleep.
Remember, you can only look after others when you have the energy to spare.
Immunity has never been higher on people’s agenda.
As homeopaths we have so much to offer.
Practice reflections
I made a big decision last month.
I’ve moved into a new workspace at a co-working studio.
I feel sad about leaving my clinic.
I was there from the beginning and it played a big part in the way I have been able to build my practice.
My ‘word’ for this year was Boundaries.
When I chose that word I was not expecting 2020 to turn out the way it has.
Lockdown was challenging for all of us.
For me, moving entirely to working from home was hard as the only space I could do calls and prepare remedies was in my kitchen/living room.
My family didn’t complain, not even once, which I have to give them credit for.
I’m quite an adaptable person and I always try to make things work but I struggled to feel professional while working from home for all kinds of reasons.
So, last week I emptied shelves, cupboards and drawers into boxes and cloth bags.
My daughter and her boyfriend helped me load it all into an Uber and we took it all to my new studio.
I have a key, and access 24/7 should I need it.
I can see clients there when I’m ready to do that, and in the meantime, it’s even dog-friendly.
It does feel a little strange as I’ve worked in a clinic for the last ten years, but I’m sure I’ll soon adapt.
I’m treating myself to a rug and some plants to make it feel cosy.
I’m often asked whether it’s best to work from home or a clinic.
It really depends on you.
Paying rental costs is often seen as a drawback, but that should be covered by your fees if you are charging a professional rate.
Working from a well-regarded local clinic can certainly help to raise your profile.
What it doesn’t do, in my experience, is guarantee a steady stream of clients.
The majority of new clients come from word-of-mouth or Google.
Here are some other questions worth considering.
Do I have space at home?
How do I feel about working from home?
If you share your home with others, how do they feel about you working from home?
Does my local area have a clinic where I could practice?
What are their opening hours?
Is it easy to get to?
How does it feel as a space?
Whichever feels like a good fit for you, be prepared to give it time.
November inspiration
“It is our choices that show who we are, more than our abilities.”
JK Rowling
I chose this quote from JK Rowling for the November Radiant Business planner.
Did you know that she wrote the whole of her first Harry Potter novel in her local coffee shop?
November is a great month to focus on some practice-building goals before the end of the year.
My goal is to finish my book-keeping for 2019/2020 which is necessary, even though it’s not much fun!
What are your goals this month?
Make a commitment to yourself by writing them down and putting them up somewhere you can see them.
Cross off the days to keep yourself on track.

Tools for the modern homeopath
Chronic Upper Respiratory Illness
In my practice I find myself treating symptoms where I see a link to the overuse of antibiotics.
In my childhood, teens and twenties, I was stuck in a cycle of chronic throat, chest and sinus infections.
Repeated courses of antibiotics left me exhausted, unhappy and struggling with low immunity, candida overgrowth and acne.
This was what brought me to homeopathy, and so I’m grateful!
As homeopaths we need to be creative in our approach to chronic illness.
treat the current symptoms
address the underlying tendency
use remedies for organ support
give acute remedies ‘to hold’
choose the right time to detox antibiotics
I share all my strategies in this forthcoming webinar.
I give a practical overview, details on remedies, case examples and there’s plenty of time for questions.
