Hi!
This newsletter is a little later than planned, so I hope it’s not too late to be wishing you a happy new year – may you feel more productive and successful in your homeopathy practice – in whatever way that means to you. ✨
In this newsletter you will find:
Reflections on 2022
The best links from the 2022 newsletters
Webinar offerings for early 2023 (I’m so excited about these!)
In the next newsletter, I will share my goals for 2023 – the truth is, I’m still working on them!
If you are a new reader, welcome!
I’m Tracy Karkut-Law, a homeopath based in east London. I’ve been in practice for 15 years and I’ve been writing and sharing my journey for the last eight of them.
Reflections on 2022 ✂️
I don’t remember exactly when I started this new year ritual, but for some years now I have been choosing a ‘word’ for my year.
In 2022 my word was Simpler.
There were a few reasons why I needed my year to be simpler, so I decided to reduce the time that I was spending on different things.
The truth is that my time and attention trickle away a few minutes here and there on many small things that I either need to make a decision about or don’t have a system for.
Simpler
Enquiry Form
My website now asks prospective new patients to complete an Enquiry Form. Even if I receive an email enquiry, I still ask them to complete the form.
(When I was working hard to grow my practice I had a button installed on my website with a link to my booking system, and I offered a free 30-minute call to anyone thinking of working with me. This was back in 2017.)
It worked really well for 4 or 5 years, I received more enquiries, and my practice grew.
Eventually, though, I realised I was finding myself in an increasing number of discovery calls where there were red flags or ethical issues for me.
The Enquiry Form helps me rule out those red flags and ethical issues and I can honestly say that my life is simpler. Generally, it gives me the space to choose whether or not to go ahead with an initial call.Templates
This year I created and refined several templates for emails for a variety of purposes.
The one I use most is the one I send following the enquiry form. It outlines my fees and includes my client-therapist agreement.
By having templates (I keep them in my ‘drafts’ folder) I have the wording all setup and it is quick to cut and paste.
I am working on a similar set of templates for the products I recommend. I am currently using handouts but I feel they work less well.
I still need to be more consistent, but my small income from product commission has definitely increased.Weekly Bookkeeping
I had good intentions, but I didn’t do this at all.
However, I did finish my end-of-financial-year spreadsheet by early May, and this helped me review my spending in a positive way.
(More on this another time.)Refresh Blog Posts
Instead of writing new blog posts and I refreshed several and optimised them for good SEO, selecting the ones that get the most traffic.
I also added a new FAQ page, as this is something that improves SEO.
This has the additional benefit of helping eliminate some red flags and ethical issues.Prescribing Through a Pharmacy
Since August I have prescribed remedies for all new clients via Helios or Ainsworths, and I ask the client to pay for them directly.
This has not been without minor glitches, but I have overcome them and the new system is generally working well.
It wasn’t simple to implement, at least to begin with, but it is definitely simpler now.
(More on this another time.)Writing Notes on an iPad
Also since August, I have been writing notes on an iPad using an Apple Pencil instead of using pen and paper.
I watched a lot of videos on YouTube to help me decide whether or not to try this.
It has been a big learning curve but I am really happy with it.
I use a simple note-making app, and I use the Apple Pencil to handwrite all my notes.
Now, they are all in one place, and I can also access them on my laptop and desktop computer if I wish.
Did you have a word to guide you in 2022?

These are three effective ways to market your practice (whether or not you choose to use social media).
We are not taught how to market ourselves, and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) sounds intimidating when you don't know anything about it.
The truth is that you don't need to be an expert, you just need to understand how it works and commit some time.
2. Hormonal Homeopathy Masterclass 📕
Hormonal Homeopathy Masterclass series with Cassie and Tracy
Dates: 24th February, 17th March, 24th March 12.30pm - 3pm
£120 early bird (ends 30th January)
Using homeopathy to treat hormone problems is the bread and butter of any homeopath's practice because when women get stressed their hormones are the first thing to go wrong.
So many women are offered the contraceptive pill as a one-stop cure-all for their period issues and yet this almost always leaves them feeling worse.
Period problems are so easily resolved with homeopathy.
That is one of the main reasons we both ended up specialising in hormonal homeopathy, Cassie with a special focus on fertility.
Our patients are becoming increasingly complex requiring a more eclectic approach.
nosodes
sarcodes
polycrests
organ drainage
tautopathic detoxes
We find this makes a bigger impact more quickly and helps the patient have more faith in what we can do for them as practitioners.
We are also offering an online group for questions and support: 24th February - 24th April.
