It feels like summer is around the corner and we have an extra long bank holiday coming up too! I can’t wait.
I hope that all is well with you, and if you are are homeopathy student, that your cases are nearly finished and you are looking forward to graduation. 🎓
Some of you have been in touch to ask if I am offering a course for new graduates this year, and the answer is yes I am!
I have set up a quick survey for new, recent, and soon-to-be graduates.
This will help to guide me in setting up the course.
If you complete the survey you receive coupons for two of my most popular homeopathy webinars - free.
Please feel free to share with your colleagues. 💛
If you are a new reader, welcome!
I’m Tracy, a homeopath based in east London. I’ve been in practice for 15 years and I’ve been sharing thoughts on my practice journey for 7 of them.
Reassessing
Maybe it’s because Mercury is in retrograde, or maybe it’s simply that we are experiencing multiple shifts - working-from-home changing to in-office or hybrid working, increased fuel and food prices, the prospect of a summer without travel restrictions – whatever it is, there seems to be a lot of unusual energy around. 🪐
I can’t believe it’s more than two years since I switched from working two afternoons/evenings until 9pm in clinic, to seeing my clients entirely online, and mostly during the day.
In the last month it’s really changed. I’ve been seeing more people in-person, and also getting more requests for calls in the evenings.
Mercury in retrograde is here until June 2nd, and according to astrologist Susan Miller, interviewed in Vogue, the best way to approach it is to make time to look back and review.
“It’s the perfect time to reassess.”
I feel like I’m forever talking about making time to reflect, so it’s reassuring to see I’m not the only one.
Anyway, I’m half-way through my accounts for 21-22.
As part of this exercise I’ve been using a spreadsheet to evaluate my spending under different headings, by comparing month on month and also monthly averages per quarter.
This is helping me think about how to reduce the running costs of my business, which have been steadily increasing in the last year.
For each of my overheads I’m weighing up not only the cost, but also the value it brings.
In some instances I am thinking more deeply about whether I can find better value, or a different solution.
Here are a few topics I am reassessing at the moment.
Whether to start sending prescriptions instead of remedies.
Whether to send a one-off Homeobotanicals mini-booklet to new clients instead of sending a leaflet every time.
How late in the evening I want to work.
Whether I want to work more than one evening.
The thing about making decisions in your practice is that you have to a) decide and then b) action and c) communicate.
If I decide to change my hours, for example, I need to update not only my booking system, but also my website and my Google listing.
I would also then mention it in conversation with clients and add it to my newsletter.
I think I will change my hours. There are definitely a lot more people going back to the office and it seems likely that this is here to stay.
How about you?
Are you reassessing anything at the moment?
Please do share in the comments if you would like.
I promise to reply. ✨

Do you love homeopathy?
Do you always love being a homeopath?
The truth is, practicing homeopathy takes a lot of mental and emotional work.
Working to restore the health and energy of sick people can be draining and frustrating as well as exciting and rewarding.
As homeopaths we are self-employed, which means - no boss or management team to direct us - but also, no support on a day-to-day basis.
This is why I feel there's such a need for reflective practice and personal development – for our own well-being and also to cultivate our positivity and resilience.
Practice Retreats are a new offering from me.
A mini-retreat to give you space to reflect on your homeopathy practice.

Hi Tracy, I have been reassessing too. I no longer do the 15/30 minute free 'see if you want to work with me or not" chat. People either book online and pay up front or not book. I put my prices up. I no longer work any weekends or evenings. I book up two long days and then have a flex day where I work on cases, newsletter etc and can see clients if I want. All these changes have made my boundaries stronger as I do not want to burn out again. I found before people were often saying that they needed help immediately or could only see me on a Saturday. Now I let those people go and often they can actually wait and can come on a week day!! I think as Homeopaths it is hard not to give too much of yourself. Love your newsletters and practice changes/assessments. Keep up the good work.
