Here we are in June, the busiest month of the summer. I’m off to a festival for the day tomorrow – I can’t wait to see Grace Jones!
The following week I’m even more excited to be joining the team at the Travelling Homeopaths Collective at Glastonbury.
If you’re going to be there too please come and say hi! 🎪
If you’re a homeopathy student, I hope your cases are nearly finished and you are looking forward to graduation. 🎓
Some of you have been in touch to ask if I am offering a course for new graduates this year, and the answer is yes I am!
I have set up a quick survey for new, recent, and soon-to-be graduates.
This will help to guide me in setting up the course.
If you complete the survey you receive coupons for two of my most popular homeopathy webinars - free.
Please feel free to share with your colleagues.
If you are a new reader, welcome!
I’m Tracy, a homeopath based in east London. I’ve been in practice for 15 years and I’ve been sharing thoughts on my practice journey for 7 of them.
Pretending to be an employee for a day 👩🏼💻
One of the great things about being self-employed is that you don’t have a boss telling you what to do.
Homeopathy is a passion for many of us, perhaps to the point where it doesn’t really feel like work.
This is why a career in homeopathy is so appealing.
There are downsides though.
The main one for me is the lack of accountability.
Is that ever a thing for you too?
Unless you are very disciplined, you might notice yourself putting off making decisions, or doing something you find boring or hard.
Lack of time is also an issue for sure.
Who has spare hours in the day? Not me.
On the other hand, I can usually manage to make time for things I’m really motivated to do.
In my practice, my client work is always the priority. It’s enjoyable, I get paid, etc. I love writing newsletters too so that always gets done. ✨
Anything that involves sitting quietly and doing something repetitive does have a tendency to get pushed back.
My book-keeping for example.
Last year I promised myself I would have my accounts finished by April, instead of leaving it to the big deadline in January.
Despite my good intentions I didn’t manage to get them done until November, but that was still way better than January.
This year I once again promised I would have my accounts finished by April, and hey look, it’s June and I’m still only halfway through.
This week I decided I will get them finished before going to Glastonbury.
This is a completely ‘artificial deadline’ but I am determined to make it work.
By the time you read this I will be hard at it, and here’s how I’m making it happen.
The night before
Have an early night
Wash my hair and shower
Decide what to wear
Pack my bag
Charge my headphones
Make a sandwich
On the day
Fill a water bottle
Go to one of my favourite cafés
Buy a coffee when I get there
Start off listening to ‘productivity’ sounds on Noisli
Download all the bank statements
Turn my phone off
Upload the statements into Excel
Work solid as long as I can
Take a break
Work solid as long as I can
Take another break
Repeat until either I’m finished, or it’s time to go home
Does this sound quite extreme?
It might do.
But for me, it is a good use of my time.
I can get a lot done in a day when I put my mind to it.
Instead of trying to do a bit here and there, I will just act like an employee for a day.
There are people who do this type of work as their JOB.
All day every day.
I am very glad I don’t do that.
Though in many ways, it’s probably a far easier way to earn a living than through homeopathy.
When I work through my accounts I get the chance to evaluate all my expenses and make notes for things to make decisions about.
Why bother setting myself this deadline in the first place?
In the summer I always have more energy and while it’s tempting to leave it until the autumn I know that once the days are shorter I will feel less motivated to do anything boring or hard.
This is why I think that summer really is a good time to work on any type of project for your practice. Here are some examples.
Setting up new systems to help you be more efficient
Creating information sheets for your clients on different topics
Topping up your remedies and/or re-organising them
Planning a workshop on how to use a homeopathy kit ready for September
Rebranding or planning a new website design
Writing new blog posts to improve your SEO
Asking happy clients to write reviews or testimonials
How about you?
What projects are you working on?
If you feel you need support or guidance I am available for one-to-one mentoring - just reply to this email to find out more.
Or if you’d just like to share you can do that here in the comments if you would like.
I promise to reply. 🫖

Do you love homeopathy?
Do you always love being a homeopath?
The truth is, practising homeopathy takes a lot of mental and emotional work.
As homeopaths, we are self-employed, which means - no boss or management team to direct us - and no day-to-day support.
This is why I feel there's such a need for reflective practice and personal development – for our own well-being as well as to cultivate motivation and self-discipline, in a kind way.
It’s soon going to be mid-summer solstice, a time of tremendous energy and potential.
A perfect time to reflect on your homeopathy practice and make some decisions to take you forward, whether you want to grow or find more balance.
