Earning a good living from homeopathy
Does homeopathy feel like work to you?
It definitely feels like work to me.
Enjoyable work, but still, work.
From spending to earning
I trained as a homeopath because I was fascinated by homeopathy, perhaps even obsessed.
I didn't give any thought to how I was going to earn a living from it.
I was so absorbed in learning about my passion, that I allowed myself to be blinkered to the business and money side of things.
To begin with, I was only concerned with investing in my learning.
I paid a monthly fee for my college training and added in extra clinics, seminars, books, remedies etc.
At the time I was earning a good salary as an Assistant Head-Teacher and I used my earnings to subsidise my new homeopathy career.
Homeopathy was something I spent money on, not earned money from.
During my first few years in practice, I more or less broke even, but I didn’t know how to earn more, or how to keep more of what I earned.
There was so much I didn’t know.
I didn’t know how to structure my pricing
Increasing my fees was loaded with guilt and avoidance
I was overly generous with concessions + discounts
I was naive about the pros and cons of selling products
I didn’t know how to evaluate overheads and expenditure
My record-keeping was all over the place
For many years I believed I ‘wasn’t good with money’ but the truth is that I had mental blocks about financial success.
On some level, I felt guilty about taking a profit from homeopathy.
If you are reading this and you feel that none of this applies to you, I am really glad!
If, however, you feel this resonates, please know that you are really not alone.
My story
This is what happened in the first five years after I graduated:
my youngest child was born
I left my teaching job
my husband was made redundant
For the next four years, while my husband worked full-time on his PhD I was the sole earner for my family, and for three of those years, I relied on homeopathy to pay the bills.
We had a relatively small mortgage, but still had a family of four (and a dog and a cat).
I had to go back to part-time teaching to make ends meet.
The following year, I took advice from an experienced and wise homeopath and put up my fees.
Things got easier after that, and my earnings increased steadily.
After my husband finished his PhD, he was able to start working again, thankfully.
I look back on those years with a mixture of pride and shame.
Proud because I made it work.
Shame because there were times when things were just really hard.
I’ve always wondered whether I would have been as business-minded if things had been different.

Hi Tracy, I appear to be having some technical issues with my email. It would appear that hotmail is only allowing some of your content to reach me and not all of it🤦♀️. Would you please send the links and notes for this webinar to kswade25@icloud.com to hopefully bypass this issue? Thank you 🙏🏻
