I hope you had a good start to your week and are feeling bright and positive this Tuesday morning.
I'm so glad you’re here.
Showing up for yourself and doing the work is the only way forward, I’ve learned.
Little by little, steady and consistent.
If there is a secret to ‘easy marketing’, that's it.
We’re on day 2 of a short email course to help you with your easy marketing - 4 emails, Monday to Thursday this week.
The course gives an outline of the simple strategies I’ve used to grow my practice over many years.
The ideas I’m sharing are principles that have helped me immensely on my practice journey.
show gratitude
be consistent
build solid foundations
refine your strategy
As a homeopath we usually work alone. No boss and no co-workers to chat with.
Nobody to set us tasks and deadlines.
Nobody to make decisions with.
This is why I recommend a journal as a helpful place to make notes and ideas for your practice.
It helps you to make your goals concrete. The simple act of writing them down makes them so.
A journal also helps you think more deeply, and discover where you want to make changes.
Yesterday we looked at gratitude and appreciation, with the simple act of putting it in writing.
Today we’ll look at being consistent.
The goal: to be consistent with words, images and branding
The strategy: assess and evaluate where you are now
Look across and assess everywhere you appear and everything you currently do. This might include your booking system, website, newsletter, social media, other online profiles, stationery, packaging etc.
Do you have a good, clear, friendly photo of yourself? [Why?]
Do your other images have a consistent style that reflects your values?
What kind of words and language do you use? Do you sign off in a regular way?
If you write/share/post do you do this on any kind of schedule or is it more 'as and when'?
The big question - what does all this say about you?
Ask yourself:
What should I stop doing?
What can I start doing?
Is there something I need to change or adjust?
Being consistent isn't simply about being reliable or trying to be perfect.
It's about being recognisable.
At the heart of it, what I'm really talking about is branding.
Branding is not just about having a nice logo design.
It's about making sure your values are imprinted into everything you do.
Everything, from your voice mail message on your phone, the wording on your booking system, the way you write, the emojis you use, the stationery and packaging you use, the photo you use on your online platforms etc.
Everything says something about you and it needs to be aligned.
This isn't something you can organise in half an hour or even a week and tick it off your list and move on.
It's something you need to revisit and refine over time.
Summary
Assess your website, newsletter, social media, booking system, packaging etc.
Evaluate everything for consistency
What does it say about you?
Is there anything you want to stop doing?
What do you want to adjust?
Is there one new thing you want to start doing?
Write a list of all the things you want to do
Block out time to do them
Final thoughts
The best marketing trainings I ever did were with David Hieatt from the Do Lectures.
I went to two in-person workshops and I loved them both.
One was on Email Newsletters and the other was on How To Build A Great Brand On Very Little Money.
A lot of what you are reading is based on what I learned from him.
You can read some of David's ideas over on the Do Lectures blog.
My favourite:
"Never underestimate the power of small, multiplied by often." David Hieatt
Not all of his tips and ideas are easy to apply to homeopathy practice-building, but many of them are. :-)
Consistency and reliability are attractive qualities.
Don’t underestimate them.
When you show up for yourself this encourages your clients to do that too.
How did you find the exercises today?
Leave a comment here if you like, I promise to reply. ✨
That’s all for today.

P.S.
If you only take 2 things away from this course…
1. You don't have to do what everyone else is doing. There is no right way or wrong way to market yourself, so long as it feels in alignment with YOUR personal values and the service you want to promote.
2. Marketing is a long game. You are building relationships. Be consistent. Choose where to spend your valuable time and spend it wisely.
