Chronic Stress and Adrenal Fatigue 🌿
As homeopaths it's essential that we have a good working knowledge of the HPA Axis – the Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal system.
Our everyday high-stress culture where we are always busy and rarely resting, means our natural adrenal response is activated too often and does not always have a chance to return to normal.
Many health problems are a direct result of too much circulating cortisol and/or from too little if the adrenal glands become chronically fatigued.
The stress/fatigue continuum
Cortisol naturally rises and falls through the day and night in a circadian rhythm.
It increases naturally in response to stress, but it's essential that it has a chance to return to normal.
This is what happens when it doesn't:
High stress -> high cortisol -> insomnia -> anxiety -> lowered immunity
Prolonged stress -> low cortisol -> insomnia-> depression -> chronic fatigue
Other body functions directly affected by stress include:
Homeostasis
Blood sugar
Energy
Tissue growth and repair
Digestion
Thyroid function
Periods and Fertility
Menopause
Homeopathy strategy
Homeopathy gives us a robust set of tools to address underlying causes of chronic stress and adrenal fatigue.
Acute + constitutional + sarcodes + nosodes + adaptogen herbs
Acute remedies resolve surface symptoms quickly and build confidence.
Constitutional remedies address underlying emotional patterns and tendencies.
Sarcodes are essential to restore integrity of the endocrine organs.
Nosodes address inherited patterns affecting mental health and immunity.
Adaptogen herbs restore vitality.
