Speaking of which, I had planned to offer a homeopathy webinar in November on the topic of homeopathy for women in their 40s and 50s.

Due to some unavoidable changes in my personal life this has now been postponed to early 2022. Please accept my apologies.

Instead, there is a different offering for November, a new collaboration, which I’m excited to share.

Ethics and Safeguarding

I’m excited to offer a new webinar training on Ethics and Safeguarding with fellow homeopath colleague Caroline Gaskin and legal advisor Robyn O’Reilly.

As holistic practitioners we offer a professional, confidential, complementary health service by referral, and, for many of us, to the ‘general public’.

The continually evolving context of the pandemic has brought increased stress and anxiety into wider society.

The internet gives greater access to information, but also an awareness of potential misinformation.

While there is an increased interest in complementary health, there is also a trend in exploring multiple treatments, and in seeking ‘second opinions’.

Ethical issues such as confidentiality, consent and safeguarding have even greater importance, not only between client and therapist, but within our profession as a whole.

There are many potential areas for misunderstandings and conflicts to arise.

I’m delighted to welcome Caroline Gaskin and Robyn O’Reilly who will join me in exploring these topics and sharing their insights and expertise.

Together, we offer you a reasoned discussion of potential issues and a legal perspective on ethics and safeguarding for homeopathy practitioners.

Navigating change

October has been an interesting month. 🍂

On one hand we still have beautiful light (on a good day) but on the other hand, the mornings are harder as we head towards the darkest, longest quarter of the year.

And, I don’t know if this is just me, but I’m aware that the end-of year is in sight, along with the tax return deadline in January. I don’t feel remotely Christmasy so how on earth can it be November next week?

These things combined mean that I feel like I’m a treadmill, running out of time to complete a few more of my goals before the end of the year.

This year there’s also a tugging feeling in my gut, that maybe this winter will turn out to be as bleak as last year. I don’t really trust everything to stay on an even keel.

Another thing to add to my list of losses

Alongside of this, there seem to be lots of tiny challenges popping up to derail me at least weekly, sometimes daily, even.

I have a long list of losses that have occurred over the last year and a half, and this week another has been added to that ever lengthening list.

The small white envelopes I use for dispensing remedies have been discontinued by the Homeopathic Supply Company.

They’ve been replaced by a different envelope with a gummed flap. ✉️

I normally lick flaps on envelopes to seal them, but I don’t want to do that for remedy packets, pandemic or no pandemic.

I’ve called and spoken to them to discover the reason for this change.

They kindly explained that it’s because the envelope-making machine has broken and a new machine is prohibitively expensive.

Mark, at the HSCo, has sourced a very similar envelope as a replacement, for which I am very grateful.

I fully recognise that it’s outside of my control, but, a small part of me is also sad.

I loved the old-style envelope, with the flap that tucked so neatly inside. 💌

I have been using it for years, and I didn’t ever foresee a day when that would need to change.

Dear universe…

If, as you are reading, you realise that you have a stock of those envelopes sitting in a cupboard and that you simply don’t use them, I would gladly pay to take them off your hands. Please just reply to this email.

In the meantime, I am trying to see this as simply another lesson in impermanence, and to navigate it graciously.

There are so many things I am grateful for, and lots of things are going well, so a small thing like a change to my dispensing envelope is not a big deal in the greater scheme of things.
